Poet, Naomi Shihab Nye describes contemplation as, “a long loving look.” I love that. Contemplation has been such a deep gift in my life lately. I have settled into a contemplative art practice and feel deeply fulfilled and nourished by it.  This approach invites me to look more closely at my life and my art with depth, presence, slowness and attention.

This contemplative approach to art making has helped me heal deep wounds and discover the gifts of silence and stillness. Contemplative practice was a key component in my ability to change my relationship to alcohol and choose sobriety after a 20 year addiction in 2021. I am in awe of the experiences I have at my art table and the new realms that I am invited into as I sit, open and listen.

I hope you enjoy listening to this episode.
