Wake Up Call

by Emma Freeman

It’s time to wake up now

peel off those heavy blankets of conditioning

that kept you cozy and unaware for so long

Slowly blink your eyes open a few times

adjust to the clear light of this day

streaming towards you

and from within you

That heavy groggy feeling

is all of the dust that has settled on top of you

over so many years

residue and soot

thick and dense

coating your thoughts and your memories

your choices and your feelings

ready to be shaken off

wiped clean and aired out

slowly stretch out into the expansive space of this morning

that has been calling to you

The world will look different now

and will take some getting used to

The pull to go back to sleep will be so strong

some days

but keep listening to that quiet voice

that steadily grows within you

You see

you were not put here

to sleep walk through these days

You are here to feel

deeply feel

to watch

to notice

to sense

to reveal what others may not be able to see

quite yet

to make the invisible visible

Stay awake, my dear

This world needs you to come fully to your senses

let them guide you from within that sacred body

They will slowly show you the way back to your soul

and all that you silently long for but cannot name

There will come a time when you will look back

and see clearly that this was part of your great awakening

So keep trusting all that you do not know yet

and stay awake, my dear

Stay awake…
