Words Stay in Bed

Today the words are staying quiet

resting in their soft beds

sleeping in late

curling back up and staying still 

and silent a bit longer

Their vessel bodies recharging

after many long days of tender labor

of subtle sifting and digging deep

of untangling and reconnecting

They ask not to be disturbed 

so I sit patiently in their silence 

with an ear to their door

and wait…
