“May writing be a path for all of us to seek the truth and share the fullness of our lives with one another.”

Written from the Body:
An Intuitive Somatic Writing Workshop
Mondays for 4 weeks from October 9th-30th
6:30pm-8pm Central Time (on Zoom)
What words are stored inside our bodies that are ready to be released?
What stories are held inside our hands, feet, eyes and throats?
What happens when we gather in loving community, courageously decide to sit in stillness together, turn inward and listen down into our bodies while the pen records what we hear on the pages of a journal?
Over 4 weeks, we’ll meet on Zoom and explore intuitive somatic writing together in community. We’ll begin each session with a grounding meditation and intention setting, then I’ll read a poem and share prompts that will act as catalysts or doorways into ourselves. We’ll each walk through our own doorway with the prompt that speaks to us in the moment as we all write quietly together. Then there will be time to share what emerged on the page without judgement or criticism from anyone in the circle. We’ll hold space for each person with loving compassion and presence. Then we’ll repeat the process with another poem and set of prompts, traveling to different areas of the body.
The focus will be on exploring what is held inside our bodies that is ready to be released through loving awareness and presence - memories, emotions, insights, questions, observations…the writing will be stream of consciousness free style writing without a set plan or outline. There will be no rules to follow, no right or wrong, no good or bad, no grades…just permission within a structured container to write from our bodies in the present moment to discover what wants to be witnessed and released onto the page. The intention will be to let words string together, one to the next, allowing and inviting words to pour out without knowing why or what they mean.
This will be a deep and gentle practice of trust and courage within ourselves, of allowing our bodies to speak to us, to speak through us.
I have discovered that this practice can gently move things that are ready to release. The process is usually surprising to those who do it, myself included. Beauty, depth, emotion and soul expression happens when given the space, care, presence and right kind of container. I have heard countless times in these workshops things like, “I had no idea I could write like that…” and “I had no idea that was inside me…” and “I had completely forgotten about that experience…” and “I have no idea where that came from.”
This workshop is open to everyone. There is no need to identify as a writer, the only requirement is a desire to explore and willingness to open up and try.
Cost: $125
Limited to 8 participants to keep the circle small and intimate
You’ll receive the Zoom link a week before the class begins.
